Quotables

So, here are Sadie's quotables from the last couple months:
1. "But that doesn't make sensitive!"
2. "Skancke Doodle went to town riding on a pony..." (It's in her genes! She's making her grandma proud!)
3. At Finn's birthday yesterday, she was talking about how she couldn't wait for summer to get here and said "Yes. And EVENTUALLY I will get to wear my swimsuit and run through the sprinklers in the backyard." (Making her English-teaching Momma proud!)

And here she is practicing her teaching and reading aloud skills to her Uncle Cam and cousin Finley. She loves a captive audience!

Phil's birthday

We spent the weekend in Waseca to celebrate Phil's birthday. He had lots of fun, as you can see. Grandma Brenda made him a Notre Dame angel food cake. Auntie Cassie and Uncle Cam gave him a sweet shirt. He and Sadie "watched" a lot of nationalgeographicforkids.com. And of course, as you can see, he and Cam got to play Barbies.

Skating Sadie

Here's Sadie's first time on the ice... Auntie Cassie, Uncle Cam, Phil, Mom and Deeds all went for a spin on the outdoor ice rink in Waseca. Sadie did pretty well (it's probably in her genes) although she was a little frustrated that she couldn't just "skate fast." She kept repeating, "I just can't go!" Well, neither could Phillip, who was wearing Kevin's dull black figure skates from 1960 (or before.) Quote of the day: "You think just cuz I got Galindos I can't play hockey?" (He then proceeded to open his arms wide with flair as Rudy would do... and fell flat on his face.)

Sadie meets author Nancy Carlson

Phil, Sadie and I spent the evening at the Prior Lake Library last Thursday night to see children's author Nancy Carlson. She was a fantastic speaker, and even did some illustrations for the kids to show them how to draw some of her characters. Sadie raised her hand to ask her to add a monkey to one of her sketches and she obliged! Afterwards, the kids could practice their skills on the whiteboards and get their books signed! Here are some photos of the evening. You can see that Phil had just as much fun drawing as the kids did...
