My Preschool Graduate

The newest graduating class of Kids Count daycare and preschool made it through commencement on Thursday, June 11th! The ceremony started at 4:00 with Miss Carrie announcing the names of the graduates to begin the walk through and the giving and receiving of diplomas. A song was then sung by the graduates, a lovely Barney tribute entitled "I love you. You love me," to all the family members who supported the scholars along the rough road to preschool graduation. To end the ceremony, the children broke out in dance to a fitting High School Musical tune, "What time is it? Summertime!" Here are some pictures to commemorate the event.

After the ceremony, our graduate, Sadie, chose her favorite restaurant, The Olive Garden, to eat and celebrate with her Grandma and Grandpa, cousin Finley, Auntie Cassie, and Phil and Mom. As you can see, she was so proud of herself, she didn't take her mortarboard off for a second, nor let her diploma out of her sight! She received gifts including some Barbie videos for rainy summer days, HSM sunglasses for sunny summer days at the pool, and a lunch box and water bottle to take with her on her next adventure in the fall... Kindergarten!

Sadie Learns to Swim the Butterfly!

My eyes just well up when I watch these two videos. The one above shows Sadie and her teacher at Foss Swim School, Miss Penny, figuring out the butterfly. One minute later, she was doing it on her own, as you can see below! I continue to be amazed and extremely proud of this little girl, who is such a blessing in my life. She is smart, funny, and can apparently swim like nobody's business! (This skill, although I'd like to take credit for all her talents and abilities, does not come from me. I can not swim, nor do I even float.) Move over, Michael Phelps...

Memorial Day at Como Park

Sadie and Morgan spent their Memorial Day holiday in St. Paul playing at Como Park and Zoo. As you can see from these pictures, the zoo was really a secondary attraction to the kiddie rides. Yes, even Phil and Morgan's dad, Kelly, got involved as they drove the girls around and smashed into each other in the bumper cars. After cotton candy and several rides on the spinning swings, we all went down to Elko to Morgan's for a family barbeque and some more playing! What a day. We all slept soundly when we finally made it home, that's for sure.
