Sadie swears...
When I told Sadie last week that she had five more minutes to play with her Polly Pockets, she asked, "Why, momma?" So I told her it was time for bath and bed! She looked at me, said, "Oh, Christ," and just walked away. I turned my head and laughed quietly, and then told her that she probably shouldn't say that- unless she's in church. But, I do know where she more than likely picked it up... unfortunately.

6-year-old Dancing Queen!

Sadie's new passion is dance. Since she spends every Wednesday night at Miss Shana's dance studio, she decided it would be the perfect place for her 6th birthday party, too. She picked a theme- Mamma Mia (her favorite movie)- and a song, Dancing Queen. She invited 10 of her friends, including her cousin, Finners. They made Dancing Queen crowns and doorhangers before learning a special birthday dance to "Dancing Queen." They ate pink ballet cake and then performed their dance for all the parents! It was adorable! A perfect day for my little Dancing Queen!

Sadie's a Dancing Queen... or Princess!
Here is our Pretty-in-Pink Sadie Joy, dancing her little heart out! Miss Shana and her dancing helper do a fabulous job with these little ballerinas. This is just so precious...

Busy as a Bee
Our girl swims and dances! Sadie started swimming again, and of course, she's the star of her class. Just a natural! Then, Mom happened upon a set-up at the fall community fest for a new dance studio called Shana's, which is in downtown Savage. It looked like great fun and is a non-competitive ballet, tap and tumbling program with one recital at the end of the year, so it was just perfect for us! Sadie's nerves got to her on the first night, and she decided she just wasn't going to go and hid under the dining room table whimpering. Then Phil made up a cheer for her: "No tears! No fears! Dance Dance Dance!" which kind of pepped her up and she decided that she'd go, but just watch. Well, as soon as we got to the studio, Mom knew that wasn't going to last long. It was decorated so brightly, and Shana was so nice that after exploring the set-up for about five minutes, Sadie looked at me and said, "I think I'm going to do it!" She, of course, was hooked, and so she and Mom went to look for ballet shoes, tap shoes and a couple of leotards and tights to wear to practice and our girl was set! Here she is...

One, Sweet, Weekend

The Stenzels came to visit for the weekend! The kids were able to play outside the entire time in the beautiful weather! Sadie and Morgan went to a birthday party, and then rode their bikes, looked at grasshoppers on the lawn, and then had a pizza party on the floor later with neighbor, Christopher! (Phil got to see his Irish win, thankfully, so the weekend was saved for us all!)
Playing School

As mentioned in the afore posting, when Phil and I ask Sadie what she did at school, she usually sighs and rolls her eyes and refuses to tell us anything. But here's how I find out... her new favorite game: school! Here she is setting up her classroom, writing out detention notices because "Mrs. Scheffler's class is right next door and they can't learn when it's so noisy" and having story time, "Please sit criss-cross applesauce with your hands in your lap, students!"
Sadie's First Day of Kindergarten
The time had finally come. We awoke in darkness. Our clothes were set out ahead of time, and we were ready. Ready for Kindergarten. Sadie chose a favorite "soft-pants outfit" that Grandma Brenda bought her. She also selected low pigtails for the hairdo. Her Wizards of Waverly Place backpack could only hang off of one shoulder... like the big kids. And, of course, she needed a bag of Chocolate Chip Mini Muffins to start her engine... especially since she had to be at Kids Company at 6:45, breakfast wasn't until 8:00, and school didn't start until 9:30!

She's been having a great time. Her friend, Ryan, is in her class and her teacher, Mrs. Schutz, is fantastic. She's also made many friends, although she doesn't always talk about them freely. She likes to keep us guessing... She told Cassie the other day that a boy she likes, Justin, was holding hands with another girl during nap time and she just couldn't stop thinking about it! And then someone called her a "sucker" during phy ed! She said the day was a big "X" and drew it in the air!
